It's all the fault of gays, trans people, immigration, and people who don't pray to God enough.

I honestly don't think a lot of these people realize how badly they are making Christians as a whole look. And then they wonder why Christians are seen as bad. Uh, maybe because of the example you are setting? Maybe because you speak of God in one breath and then spew hate and injustice and prejudice in the next? I mean, I consider myself a Christian, though a much more liberal, ecumenical, universalist version that thinks mercy, compassion, justice, grace, empathy, and love are the key. But if I knew nothing about religion and I was seeing it for the first time from these people? I'd be completely turned off. They make Christianity the opposite of appealing.

The asshole firefighter who got into a conversation with me today about my yard (he has a lawn business) and when I mentioned my stupid-ass neighbor and his confederate flag, the conversation rapidly devolved to him ACTIVELY DEFENDING SLAVERY and saying things like 'well, some of them had no roof over their heads!' and 'they weren't *all* treated badly!'.

Christ on a cracker.

I'd love for the people who keep insisting these shootings are due to lack of God in our lives to explain the ones that have happened at churches. Pretty sure people were doing an awful lot of praying there, and yet...

To say nothing of the insulting implication that non-religious people are more likely to commit these crimes when I can turn on the Investigation Discovery channel or your average "Dateline" and see a crapton of stories about crimes committed by "God-fearing, church-going" people.
