if someone is being racist why does it matter to you if they "truly" believe it?

To me, yes, it matters, because one is clearly worse than the other.

They're both obviously bad. But there's a certain type of reality-denying Facebook-fanatic that only happens with real conspiracy nutters and those tend not to be your average dumb teen spouting memes in chat
