DA - As a Canadian, I think it sounds silly when Americans say "foyer" and pronounce it like it's spelled, but they're not actually being ignorant and unsophisticated when they say it that way; it's just the right way to pronounce the word, in American.

I think what bothers me so much is mainly that the Americanized version of guerrilla just sounds so much like something that can tip a sentence into ridiculousness. The line in the podcast (it's an ad for another one of their podcasts) is "she turned into a full-blown urban gorilla". And that just makes me crack up every time even though the subject matter is kind of dark.

I honestly thought it was 'gorilla warfare' because that's how I heard it pronounced as a kid. I get that same urge to laugh every time I hear it because of it.

I mean, gorilla warfare would be pretty dangerous as well. Just... much more straightforward than guerrilla warfare.
