158. In writing LOTR, Tolkien actually took a lot from Beowulf, which was written a very long time ago. If you could directly relate to an invincible, blessed warrior fighting a monster and its mother in the Nordic era...that'd be pretty weird, actually.
So you relating to HP more is simply because JKR and you are from the same era. Doesn't mean that one's necessarily better than the other, as I like both, but you're welcome to your opinion. :)
