If you remember how season 2 went into a lot of deep background on Trish and her history of addiction, season 3 kind of tied into that only now Trish's addiction is being a superhero and trying to help people. She sees this as a noble goal and that Jessica is sort of wasting her potential so she's freeing Jessica from being a hero by becoming one herself. Only Trish is fucking things up badly, and it's clear that this arc is very similar to her personality as an addict, it's just the drug has changed.
So season 3 is about Trish slowly losing the plot, veering far off course via vigilantism until she's a villain. And it ends with her going to prison with all the other super villains.
