That looks awesome. Round things can be trickier to crochet because of the increases. I have to recount many times to make sure I'm not gaining or losing stitches. The single crochet border looks perfect. If you used a contrasting colour it might give it more of a recognisable edge but I like the way it looks in the same colour too.

The good thing about mastering circles is that hats aren't too much harder. One you reach the right size circle to fit your head you just stop increasing stitches each round and the hat almost makes itself. I'm sure you'll work it out. I'd love to see the finished product. :)

A hat for my niece is the next thing I am going to do! Also going to try changing colors.
