When does the school year start where you are, FS?

It started August 12th here, which seems so early to me

My nephew is starting school tomorrow. They always start on a Thursday to ease the kids into going back. He is pretty excited because they are going to hatch chickens. He is in the 1st grade.

These days anything goes. We have some late August, some early September... then there's that one year-round school in the area. I remember doing late August way back in the day.

Fucking bugs.... (just a wee vent)

Something bit me in bed two nights ago. Like - six times. I had to get up in the middle of night to find it (some weird little brown bug, no clue). Now i have huge fucking hives/welts on my back/side and butt, yay. Itchy and kind of hard (my body and it's overreaction to every fucking thing, yay).

Tonight climbing into bed for F!S and Netflix, I found a brown recluse (dead) in my sheets (i was checking for more other bugs, but nothing. And no new bites, either, thank gods).

Recluse in my shower this morning, too.

And now the bats have found their way down into the walls, and as i lay here, they scrape and scritch around in the wall behind my dresser. Makes the cats nuts. I've even moved my dresser a couple times to be totally sure there's nothing in the *room*, and there isn't but....omg.

Summer needs to be over now.

How much do you tip Hairdressers?

I really need to know. It's been forever (years!) since I last cut my hair, but this time I decided to try something new. (aka not go to the cheapest on the lot) And got my hair bleached, dyed, and trimmed/cut. The estimate was about $170 (Canadian, and I have a fuckton of hair) but rung up around $260. Thing is she said around $230, so I'm not sure if the extra dollars were tip/tax/staying literally two hours past closing to finish my hair (it took over six full hours to finish overall). Plus two different people worked on it since they made shifts to get me in because I have a wedding to go to in two days.
I get most of my go-to's from my mom, but she's super cheap, so I gave like $15 tip. (a lot by her standards) I highly doubt that was enough, but it was all I had on me in cash. I can/want to go in tomorrow to get my ears pierced/lay down more money for the two girls who went the extra, extra, mile to suit me. I just don't know how much/if I should/if that's really freakin' weird. I'm totally lost.
