I completely understand that viewpoint, and I know how aggravating it can be to have your hardest-work art ignored completely while some crap doodle of a popular character gets a zillion favorites or comments.

That doesn't make fanart any less valid than original art; and my big resentment in that there are people out there who think I'm lower than shit because I draw and write characters that I didn't originally create. I could point them to my original stuff, but they don't CARE about my original stuff, just the fact that I've committed the mortal sin of fan-creating.

Wow, I have no idea where I'm going with this. Ah well! Bitterness, let me show it...

Yup, yup. Drawing fanart does not make you less of an artist in any way. ESPECIALLY if you don't want to make a career of your art! Why SHOULD you draw original characters if that's not your goal? Sigh.
