I do think Amazon has an interesting selection. I think a lot of it is that Amazon Prime, from all available evidence, just has no quality control whatsoever, which is honestly really interesting to me and feels sort of old fashioned and cool. There's a lot of really weird, obscure, old stuff on there and it's an interesting feeling to just go and poke around and find some weird one-season wonder from 1986.

At the same time, Amazon has two major problems. One, their originals are bad. No good. No bueno. and I don't even love Netflix Originals, but you can't even really compare the two, the gap between them is so huge. Two, Amazon is much more evil than Netflix. So even to the extent that one uses their services, it's not something you're going to be inspired to speak highly of.

I really disagree about the originals? Prime has some really good ones, and I’m not talking about Good Omens, lol.

Yeah, honestly, that's my bad, I really overstated what I meant, because they do have a couple of series that I like. But I think their overall approach to originals isn't much good as yet - the quantity of good, compelling originals they've put out (IMO) is significantly smaller than the quantity of interesting Netflix originals, and I definitely think they haven't had anything that comes close to the level of popularity some Netflix originals have had.

I don't have Amazon Prime, but I feel like their approaches are actually pretty similar - throw a bunch of stuff at the wall and see what sticks - but, Netflix is better at recognizing and promoting the more watchable (some good, some bad). Because they seem to both just kind of spend fairly indiscriminately on all kinds of things and so both have a lot weird things that get made.
