Just pirate it. Why even support an evil corporation for a ridiculous series that has no reason to exist when we already have the movies that aren't even that old?

Uh, the series won't be based on Lord of the Rings. It will be based on the Second Age from the Silmarillion. Specifically the fall of Numenor.

is that what it's going to be about? well, better than the childhood of Aragorn I guess but still. as much as I like Elendil and Isildur, the fall of Numenor is like the last thing I would want to see acted out. gimme First Age or nothing.

Yup. They haven't completely confirmed Numenor. It may possibly be the creation of the rings. They've only absolutely confirmed Second Age. But Numenor seems most likely given the things they've hinted at.
