(Anonymous) 2019-08-17 11:56 am (UTC)(link)Hawkeye is fine. I can take or leave him. But I'm really pissed he killed a bunch of people but still Natasha sacrificed herself for him (as OP above noted the writing with her character was problematic enough in AoU with the talk of her being unable to have babies. So the implication here is she, who can't have babies, is worth less than him, who has a family? As someone who may not be able to have children Fuck you Marvel!)

(Anonymous) 2019-08-17 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)I would be less inclined to hate Natasha's death if her whole "I'm a monster who can't have children" didn't exist and if he didn't go on that useless macho rampage after the Snap. I though that the cold open with his whole family disappearing was pretty effective as a symbol of many other people's tragedies (and a counterpart to Tony's "good luck", family wise), but afterwards, when he spent years killing people left and right, even if they weren't very 'good' people, instead of acctually doing something useful with his former co-workers, I was ready for him to sacrifice himself for the sake of his wife and children's return. It would also work pretty well thematically - he became someone very dark who wouldn't fit well within his family unit anymore, but he could "redeem" himself with his final actions. And he could ask Natasha to take care of his family afterwards - if we are to take AoU seriously, then children are somewhat important for her, so it would be a way for her to gain even more of a family (assuming that she isn't a favourite aunt already; the films are pretty unclear on how close they were outside work; it varies from one film to another).
