God bless both of your ships, OP.

Tony and Steve are the only reason I want to get into the comics. Can you recommend their best storyline, OP?

You can ship both. I do and I only know them from the MCU and whatever I have learned from the comics through osmosis. Honestly, it makes sense that you would ship Steve/Bucky more than Steve/Tony in the MCU. Steve/Tony have a mostly antagonistic relationship.

I think it's really cool that you have different OTPs in the different verses. To me it demonstrates that the movies made the characters their own (which is a sign of a good adaption) and that you as a fan chose to fangirl/-boy/-person them both in distinct ways (which I think is a good route to take for a fan). A lot of wins. So fuck the haters.

I haven't read enough comics to have ships (and I definitely do not ship Steve/Tony in the MCU), but I went through something similar with Star Trek, where I ship Kirk/Spock in TOS but Kirk/Bones in AOS.

My best advice would be to ignore the shipwars, live your life, and don't let anyone harsh your squee.

I think a lot of people ended up that way for Trek!

Maybe I just hang out in super chill circles, but I don't think this is a particularly controversial opinion. I know plenty of people who ship comics Steve/Tony and MCU Steve/Bucky (including me), and it's no big deal. Now if you shipped MCU Steve/Tony and MCU Steve/Bucky, otoh...

This makes sense to me honestly, I don't super-ship comics Steve/Tony but I get where the shippers are coming from 200% and do low-key like it(or at least did, the Civil War arc really soured me on a lot of things tbh, but it's not their fault really). But in the MCU I'm much more into Tony/Pepper, Steve/Bucky, Sam/Steve and Tony/Rhodey because, for me at least, the foundation for those relationships work better than Steve/Tony as the latter never really seemed to get out of that 'begrudging co-workers' feel. YMMV and all however.

That isn't to say MCU Steve/Tony doesn't have anything, tbh I think Endgame gives that relationship a little more meat, but I personally don't really jive with it in the same way I did for comics Steve/Tony.

Which is fine, adaptations don't always make you feel the same way towards a ship or characters.

.......who says you can't? There's tons of Steve/Tony fic and stuff out there, and tons of Steve/Bucky, ditto.

Just have fun!

I don’t think you’re wrong. There’s a lot of comics Stony shippers who hate their MCU relationship and MCU Stucky shippers who find comics!Stucky a big no. The problem is when people start putting comics!Stony against MCU!Stucky as if they’re remotely comparable. That’s 3 different characters with two separate interpretations each to the point where it might as well be a ship war involving 6 different characters. (Not even including inconsistencies between movies/comics/writers/retcons)

You can, so long as you know they aren't the same. MCU and Comicverse are completely different in so many ways that they really aren't even the same ships. They may be the same characters, but portrayal goes a long way.

Yeah, comics and MCU are such different 'verses with such DIFFERENT relationships. I get why you would ship differently! (Steve and Tony is my 616 ship as well!)
