I somehow did not know that CGI de-ageing was a thing. I don't watch many movies though so it's possible I haven't seen it in action yet. I'm all for older actors getting parts but it seems kind of strange to me to not hire a younger actor to play a younger guy. (I'm not addressing that movie specifically because I didn't see it.)

Oh, yeah, totally. They did it to Kurt Russell when he played Ego in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. To Michael Douglas when he played Hank Pym in MCU, and Robert Downey Jr. in flashbacks when he plays a young Tony.

I've probably seen it then if it's so common, though I didn't see any of those specific films.

Years ago I read a book where all actors had been completely replaced with CGI. Maybe we're headed there.

They did it for Tron Legacy too.

But the weirdness would work there because he's a computer program
