I had to check the publish date, but I'm not sure what I've read/enjoyed from that time period, since Jane Austen is before and Little House is after.

Well, it's a similar thing with the Little House series - there's a lot that doesn't stand the test of time there, either. The racism against Native Americans, and the whole blackface minstrel show thing, namely. With Alcott, it's a little more subtle and her ideas were a little ahead of their time but they're not now. That wouldn't be so bad if she weren't in the habit of preaching via her books, another stylistic choice that doesn't stand the test of time very well.
