... did they? IIRC, people criticized that gown because it looked cheap and ugly and the shade of yellow was unflattering, not necessarily because it didn't fit her well. The best, tightest corset in the world couldn't have saved that look. It was just a fugly dress.

It was more that Watson had veto power over the dress, hence the fugly design, and publicly touted her refusal to wear a corset. Fans latched on to that as being the basis of what was wrong with the dress rather than,well, everything
