103. Okay, I've been wanting to get into Justice League (mostly because Beetle and Booster seem like such fantastic characters), but I just don't know where to start, what era, which arcs, even what freaking book.
But that looks like a swell place. I love cast pics like there, where you see them as a happy, dysfunctional family of sorts.
So please...where's it from? Or maybe, more specifically, when's it from? Because now that I've got a huge comic store nearby, I want to get my hands on some of this fun times.

105. Lol, I liked the Airplane reference too, but when they started playing the themesong, I freaked the heck out.
Okay, there was also the Danny Elfman version of the music. Eh...it wasn't horrible, it just wasn't...worth it, I guess.

121. Could have something to do with the fact that he's voiced by Milo from Pepper Anne. Oh, and--of all things--Budnick from Salute Your Shorts.

129. Really? I always felt cheated that they only kissed once she was pretty. I thought that movie had potential, but it just...fell short. Handled it all poorly. It was still sweet and romantic...but it was so easy to see where it could've been better.

158. Heh. When I was a kid, I always said I was like Darkwing Duck. But that was mostly because I liked staying up late and made cool plans at night when I was supposed to be going to sleep... But still, I'd lie awake under my covers and pretend I was having cool adventures with him.
...and other cartoon characters.
(Admittedly, as a role model, I think he leaves a bit to be desired, with that massive ego. But you gotta love him.)

Justice League International. DC recently released the trade. Go for it. It's fun. I think it's a good starting point too.

Whoops sorry. 146 is from Young Avengers. There are trades for this too. It's absolutely wonderful and a lot of fun. :D

I thought that the kiss worked because he didn't know Penelope didn't have the pig nose. She was wearing a mask during the conversation and the public didn't know about her transformation.

That was my first Justice League and one of my first DC comics. It used to be pretty hard to find, but they're releasing it in hardcover now! (And if you like dysfunctional but happy teams, this is where that whole bit started.)

This is what it looks like. The actual issues started coming out in 1987, so you're probably better off with finding the trades.

Thanks! I'm hitting the comic shop tomorrow to see if I can find it. I need a comic-y fix (man, don't you hate it when all the titles you pick up come out in the same week...withdrawal, y'know.)

If you're looking to start with this cast (dysfunctional family suits them well), this is from the Justice League International era. This assembly began in the 80's, but even after the JLI run, I recommend any Justice League titles written by Keith Giffen (the more recent Classified runs of I Can't Believe It's Not the Justice League and Formerly Known as the Justice League).

If you haven't already been to it, you can get yourself acquainted with different incarnations and runs through the scans_daily community here on LJ.

Heh. Actually, I went out and picked up the first volume of JLI today, so I guess I need to thank you for making the secret and drawing my attention to it. Thanks also for the recs after this, because I'm loving it too much and I'm only halfway through.

I don't frequent scans_daily, but I did see the wonderful short where Booster and Beetle steal Manhunter's cookies up there. Definitely one of the reasons I wanted to get into it.

That's awesome to hear... they really are a charming ensemble, even Guy Gardner (he took a bit to grow on me). No problem with the recs, those two are among my favourite runs for this lot.
