Re: Sony and Disney are fighting over Spider-Man rights.

Venom made plenty of money, and is beloved. Spider-Verse is a Sony thing. The idea that Disney has a magic wand that can make good content, and ONLY they can make good content, is demonstrably wrong. I have no dog in this fight it's just weird to see people actually, like, casting Disney as heroic or something.

The last three live action Spider-Man movies were pretty dog shit. Spider-man is only as big as he is because Disney gave him great intros and movies that led into his.

Are you for real?

He's SPIDERMAN

The Amazing Spider-man movies are the worst rated movies of the Spider-man movies. They also had the worst box office of the live action movies. Sony had no clue what to do with him.

Spiderman is not "only as big as he is" because of Disney. That is a ridiculous statement. Sony have made some bad movies that did poorly in the box office in the Spiderman franchise, but also some that did well. Acting like Disney has to be given ownership of the franchise so we can get good movies is fanboy logic.

It had two that did well nearly 20 years ago. And frankly, would do horribly if they were released this year. A third that was awful. And then two more bombs. They handled it so poorly that they rebooted that character two years later and let Disney write their movies.

Look, if Sony actually gave people the confidence that they knew how to make a LA Spider-Man by themselves, people wouldn't be so annoyed with them. But they haven't so Spider-Man fans are reasonably worried.

Beloved? Who told you that?

It has a substantial and real fanbase

So do the Transformers movies. That doesn't make it beloved.

If it has a fan base and people love it, does that not make it beloved?

Depends on how big that fan base is? Venom has arguably a cult fanbase at best.
