Re: Sony and Disney are fighting over Spider-Man rights.

You mean the movie they made? Why should Sony get the money for a Disney movie? That makes no sense. 50-50 seems totally reasonable.

That still makes 50-50 reasonable. 5% only for Disney doesn't seem like a reasonable deal, and it seems perfectly reasonable for Disney to want to renegotiate. I'm all for blaming corporations, and Disney is often the bad guy. But I think people are too quick to blame them sometimes, and I don't see how they are in the wrong for wanting a more fair deal.

Sony are the ones who actually, factually own the rights. Spiderman, in film, is Sony's character.

So the question is, how much of the success of the movie can be attributed to Disney? And obviously it's *extremely* difficult to figure out how much each side contributes - either creatively, or in terms of financial ROI - to the movies. But I have a hard time believing that Disney is responsible for 50% of it as compared to a non-Disney version of the film, especially when you compare the success that Sony was able to have with Venom and Spiderverse, neither of which Disney had any input on. So that's why 50% feels unreasonable to me.
