I know that many people don't have the same issues with CGI that I do (visuals from Polar Express and Avatar range from making me cringe to making my skin crawl), but when I look at the pictures on the left, I physically draw back from them. To me, they look so wrong it is upsetting and uncomfortable. The pictures on the right just seem like elaborate Halloween costumes or enthusiastic cosplayers.

That's too bad. Some CGI stuff is really amazing. Some is really obvious. None of it is upsetting to me just as CGI.

I think the only thing that ever got to me, CGI-wise was that recent movie with the robot girl? Because they used a person and just made her have really weird, big eyes. That was bizarre. But mostly it's just...a movie, yay!

The Alita: Battle Angel one? I saw the trailers and thought it was a joke, at first.

Yeah, that one. Just...wth. That was poorly thought out.

NAYRT: "CGI" is pretty much meaningless because nearly everyone is taking advantage of digital workflows these days. So like, the Cats are done with CGI, but so are in-car shots (nearly impossible to mic) and simulated TV footage (easier to apply the right filters than to mess with vintage electronics.)

Some are, some aren't. I like that Supernatural doesn't do CGI car stuff, and actually made a little machine thing with lights that spin to simulate cars going by in night shots.

I like that CGI is being used instead of, say, animals in a lot of stuff, and it certainly makes some things cheaper and easier for stuff like alien planets and 'Paris, 1934' or whatever. I don't mind it, though it seems to be a huge bugaboo for some (even when it's not 'uncanny valley' stuff).
