I can agree that there is a difference between government sponsored censorship/actual laws being put in place and social censorship where certain behavior is culturally and socially undesirable and therefore there's social pressure for anyone who disagrees to keep that behavior/their views/likes hidden.

But where is the line?

I honestly hate it when people jump right to nazism and child porn for these conversations. Nazism is harmful. Actual child porn is harmful. But writing a story about fictional teens having sex with one another isn't child porn. Writing a story about a serial killer isn't pro-murder either.

And honestly, for example, last year the fandom I'm in had a huge discussion on the trend of Character B always bottoming for Character A and how that was harmful to the gay community and that's the kind of crap I'm talking about. People being harassed because they want to write fantasy sex and think it's hot when one character is a big bottom. Who is that harming? Apparently the gay community according to antis. Yeah, no one is going to lobby the government to make that illegal, but trying to censor fantasies through social pressure has a lot more in common with the far right's aims to control women than it does with the left.

Come on though, if I find out a grown adult is consistently writing porn of underage characters (I mean 15 or under), real life child actors, or drawing and reblogging shota/loli like Shadman (I mentioned him last secret batch) I'm gonna fucking side eye that person. I'm not going to make call out posts, but I'm going to avoid that person because that kind of behavior raises alarm bells. There should be a line when it comes to kids.

Big freaking difference between fictional children and RL child actors, IMO, because it crosses the line of not harming real children.

Also, I think you can't condemn kinks across the board as long as they don't harm RL people, but I agree that you should be mindful of the content you are consuming and how it may influence or indicate other things.

"I'm not going to make call out posts, but I'm going to avoid that person"

And that is the right response. You are not harassing them or instigating attack mobs under the guise of ~~~ making people aware of this pedo ~~~.

If you find someone's behavior/posts/kinks/whatever unpleasant or morally wrong you stay away from them and leave them to it. Unless you find out that they are actual pedophiles harming real children (or committing any other crime), in which case the right answer is probably contacting the authorities.

Nothing to add, just wanted to say that I feel the exact same way, and second your entire comment.

There should be, and there is, a line when it comes to real kids. Fictional kids do not count. You're still free to be squicked by that content and avoid that person like the plague, but porn of fictional children is not in any way equivalent to real children.

It kind of is though if you're making content of that nature. It's a sign that person is fucked up. Sorry, anon, but your desire to diddle fictional kids is creepy and morally questionable.
