Random fun

Anyone do any fun things you weren't planning on recently?

We took a spur of the moment trip to the used book store today. My parents even bought me 3 books: 2 Tolkien books I didn't have and one Turtledove book that was based on WWII but with magic instead of technology. I totally wasn't expecting it. I kind of think they recognized that I've been a little off lately and wanted to do something randomly nice for me? Anyway, it was a fun surprise.

That's a really nice thing for them to do! What titles, though, you can't leave us hanging like this?

The two Tolkien books were the Tolkien reader which includes several short stories and another short story one that includes Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Pearl, and Sir Orfeo. The Turtledove book is Rulers of the Darkness.

My mum and I travelled interstate to see a musical*, and upon realising we had an evening free and there was a show on we'd like to see, we got tickets at pretty much the last minute - and it was great! If you have the opportunity to see the stageplay of 'Shakespeare in Love', I recommend it!

*'Come From Away', I loved it a lot

That sounds fun. Glad you guys were able to see an extra show.

I've seen Come From Away! It's so good, the way they play the humour against the serious tone of the musical is brilliant. It gave me so much hope.

Watched both the 25th anniversary proshot of PotO and the proper film version, and then Lindsay Ellis' full three vids on the topic. I didn't even know that the anniversary thing existed until it showed up in the library's records. I was originally just going to look up the film because my ensemble is playing some medley and I wanted to know what the tunes were about.
