Orchids. Some of them are very hardy, to the point of nearly thriving on neglect. I was given an orchid years ago for a birthday present and was disappointed as I dont really have a green thumb, and thought it would die under my care. I put it in a sunny window, watered it and fed it plant food occasionally and it lived and bloomed for years, which made me get a few more orchids and a couple of other plants. Now I have 9 plants in my southern window, 4 of them are orchids and right now there are 2 big bloom spikes on one, so I'm doing something right!
