Why ... why is this a gotcha? Like, if they knew that those places had the upsetting content you mentioned, why would they go there?

Also, ffs, there is a line between "I don't think you have the right to harass someone for posting a smutty steven universe fic" and "I think it's okay to post RL pictures of RL children in sexual threads"

I don't think anyone here is advocating that the latter is okay.

Yeah. I mean, just bringing up 4chan etc. as a gotcha is embarrassing. Of course those sites are shitty and disgusting. Doesn't mean it makes me like the purity brigade on Tumblr any better. Most people have the mental capacities for disliking several things at the same time. Just because you also don't like a (potentially) lesser evil doesn't mean you condone the greater one. What the fuck even is that logic.
