I have a total kink about bareback and coming inside in particular so never involve condoms in my fics. But there is always the 'talk' before hand about how they're both 'clean'

This is a bit off-topic but I hate this use of the term "clean" because my HIV+ friends shower. They also take their meds, so they can live long healthy lives and never infect anyone. And yet it's always HIV people are referring to when they ask if someone is "clean" in fic (or on Grindr) - no one ever seems to talk about syphilis or gonorrhea or even HPV!

Indeed. There are some really telling connotations behind the use of that word.

As for me, when I read or write fic, my philosophy is safe sex depends on the context. Not using a condom doesn't mean it's unsafe, just as using one doesn't mean it's safe.
