Re: spoilers!
(Anonymous) 2019-08-26 06:57 am (UTC)(link)I think my problem with the series is that I know it's a fictional take on it, but I read books about (and by) some of the people they are supposed to be basing the characters on and the early work of the unit and the study. Even the murdered child is based on a real case involving two brothers (the youngest did participate), and I'm bothered by them presenting fictionalised versions that make less sense. I can hear what they're saying about him only being a witness, but why would a group of older boys not force him to participate? That doesn't make any sense. They would want him to have as much to fear from telling anyone as they did.
I guess I'd prefer it dry by your measure? I don't think their work is boring at all, and I'd rather have 90% less of their personal lives on screen. I'm not very interested in Carr's love life either, I'd rather have more scenes with her working because her job is interesting. I really thought it could do with much more editing because the episodes don't have a good flow as they are.
