Yes, but what she's looking for, if there is a female "in the way" isn't what's actually there. Therefore, the entire text is in the way. If the female is "in the way" because the text says so, then the entire text is "in the way." It would be more accurate and honest to say "I think this sucks because the guys aren't having sex" than "this girl sucks because this guy would rather have sex with her than this other guy."

Why is it important? Because believe it or not, yes, people do apply their real attitudes to fiction, even if they don't always realize it.

No, I did not saythat. I said that real life attitudes people have influence their approaches to fiction, even if they don't realize it.

It can mean someone who hates fictional women hates real women. It can mean that society and media says to view women as competition, or to hold them to higher standards, but that that is suppressed in real life out of an awareness that it isn't "right," but is still there. It can mean bad memories of people of a certain age group. It can mean hating real women, but it can also mean a thousand other things.

Yes, it can mean that, and no, not everything is. But if it's because of the gender, or because of "interfering" as opposed to specific qualities that you would have a problem with regardless of gender or status as potential orrealized love interest? Then yes, there probably is something besides "I don't like this character" going on.
