Yeah iirc, in some interview he whined about Seven taking up all his storylines and having all the screen time with Janeway or something like that. I read this way after the show had already ended, but I remember thinking they should have just killed him off rather than do this.

Except his Chakotay and 7 don't get together until the very final episode? Or at least waaaay near the end of the final season.

I've heard that the actor wasn't happy, and yeah, maybe he should have just left, but placating him like this right at the end makes no sense.

Chakotay should have left instead of Kes. He stopped being interesting in the second season.
