DA -- I mean, Mulan is Chinese, and Ariel is a mermaid. So the comparison falls at the first hurdle.

A mermaid from a Danish story! The story was Danish, the mermaid herself was not, unless the section of the ocean she came from was within twelve nautical miles of Denmark, I guess - according to Wikipedia, that's how much ocean belongs to the country that borders it.
