Not sure where you are, but go onto local Facebook sell/trad communities, or Craigslist kind of things. I found a bike for my daughter's BF for 20 bucks. Works great, is a 'big' size that actually fits him (he's 6'4"), and has given him no issues. It's not got all the bells and whistles, but it works.
