I disagree. Bucky isn't ready for it emotionally. I also think Sam is interesting and that Mackie can totally pull it off if they give him the right script to work with. I would really like to learn more about Sam's background and more about Sam in general. I hope we get the opportunity.

Bucky definitely isn't ready for it emotionally. But you know... that's one of the reasons why him as Captain America might've been interesting. I could for sure see a plot develop where he and T'Challa bond over taking on such a huge burden of responsibilities. Their shared past while Bucky recovered in Wakanda could be explored further the way it never was on screen so far.

Strongly seconding this.

Agreed-- Bucky isn't there now, and I'd be totally turned off of seeing Bucky!Cap in the MCU at this point. Sam is a character with a lot of potential and if the writers and director(s?) do their job right, Mackie's compelling enough to make something out of it!

Sam and Bucky as a duo, though... might actually make me care about Bucky, if they have a fun buddy chemistry.

I love Bucky, which is why I didn't want him to become Cap. It would be terrible for him. He needs healing, he doesn't need more responsibility.
