I really dislike endings where the group goes their separate ways. Even if all the characters got a happy ending. I know it's realistic and people have their own lives to lead but I don't care. I prefer the "adventure continues" endings for this reason.

It's weird because it's literally the opposite of my real life in which I don't care for friendship at all.

This is me and Toy Story 4 ahaha. I don't care for friendship in real life but when I got to the ending I hated it for separating Woody from his friends.

I dislike those endings as well.

I only dislike those when the narrative specifically says the characters never see each other again, like in Terry Pratchett's Nation.

Tbh, I prefer those endings too in a lot of cases. It makes me weirdly sad that people don't stay together.

I agree so hard. I guess there are times when it's the only ending that feels right, but most of the time I'm like, no, fuck that. I've just never really understood the mentality of, "We have a deep bond and so much love for each other, and a huge amount of shared experiences, but all of that is over now, so I guess we'll part ways." It just does not remotely make sense to me. Like, I guess if the characters' bond is entirely based on what they've gone through together, and they really don't have much in common beyond that, then I get it. But when the characters clearly know and love each other as people, in addition to having gone through a lot together, then it doesn't make sense to me to have them part ways, and I hate it.
