Re: Secrets You Can't Be Bothered to Make

Not so much "can't be bothered" as "know I would be eviscerated in the comments" so secret-maker samaritans please stay away, but: there is a book, I won't name it, that I hate so much (for reasons I also won't name, but they go well beyond "boring" or "problematic") that I actually want to get a copy and burn it. But I won't buy one because that would be giving the author/publisher money, and I would never ever ever deface a library book (plus I'd have to pay to replace it, which would be the same problem), and I'm definitely not burning an e-reader for more than one obvious reason. The only option I can think of is to pirate it online and then print the whole thing out, but it just won't be the same as destroying "the real thing". And I'm not made of ink.

Buy it used.

The author doesn't get money from that sale. And if you're lucky, you might be able to find it cheap. Libraries also have book sales too. (At least in the US.)

Can't speak for the others, but your secret will remain un-made by me. I'm dying to know what book this is, though, and I'd love to know your reasons. Like the other anon suggested, buying a used copy doesn't give the author or publisher any money, so I'd try that if you want to destroy a physical copy.
