I look at it like this: there's a person's sexuality (what turns them on) and then there's a person's sex appeal (their attractiveness to other people).

For some people, the two are connected. A lot of people assume the two are connected for all women - I recently saw a female blogger explain female sexuality by using a quote from a female writer that basically said "men are turned on by women, women are turned on by being desired by men." Obviously this was true for the writer and the blogger, so they assumed it was true for all women - and a lot of men assume this too.

For other people (including some women) the two aren't really connected. Like I have stuff that turns me on - mostly weird fictional stuff that has nothing to do with being desired by men or anyone. I can also see the appeal of using sex-appeal to get stuff or power, but in that situation, it's the "getting stuff and power" that makes that attractive - it's not a sexual turn on for me at all.
