I had no issue with how he looked, so much of my like of Thor is because of his kind-nature that shines though even when he's somewhat unkempt. It's how he was treated by every character(and the narrative) when he looked like this that I didn't like at all.

Which is such a shame because they could have done a really nice thing with this aspect of him in Endgame, but instead watching it was like pulling fucking teeth.

This exactly. I wish they hadn't pushed the fat jokes (even his mom!), and tried to make his sincere and utter depression something to mock.

God right? He had that lovely and heart-felt moment with his mum, it made me all warm and fuzzy inside... and then they completely undercut it all with a fat-joke and it was so ugh.
