Agreed but we've reached full circle in the films are suffering the same as the comics.

0n Whedon I don't agree it was just Stark. I thought he also had a fondness for Loki, although he made him a bit cartoony but in interviews he came across as actually liking the character, which no director since has given me that impression.

Personally I thought Whedon wrote them all really well in the first Avengers. I mean, I know AoU messed up with Nat (and wasn't great in general), but the first Avengers movie was the first time I felt like Nat's character fully gelled. And, I mean, Whedon basically gave us Bruce, considering how little was carried over from the solo film.

I will concede that Steve is a bit more self-righteous and a bit more of a square when Whedon writes him. But not to the point where I find him unsympathetic or unrecognizable.

Sorry for the late reply, been on the road today!

Tbh I agree. I think it's cool to hate on Whedon now and be all up the Russos' arses but I don't think anyone appreciates how much it was quite a task at the time to balance all those characters. Yes it's a bit quippy but ffs had Whedon's version not spoken to people we wouldn't even have the Russos directing 3 and 4. I'm tired of revisionist history making out like Avengers was crap.

The Avengers was fantastic! I remember the excitement when it came out.
IW and EG literally took away all of my excitement for the MCU. I enjoyed them but they aren't the 'bestest thing evah!' that people go on about. I really wish we could have seen Whedon's version of IW and EG...

I agree that Whedon likes Loki and furthermore had a plan when it came to Infinity War for him. It's a shame that the Russo brothers and writers of IW don't like the character so crapped all over him by making him die within the first ten minutes in a really OOC fashion. (I loved his characterisation in Ragnarok though. I loved all of the characterisations in Ragnarok).
But then, they also IMO made Steve Rogers completely OOC with him going back in time to be with Peggy, therefore screwing with the timeline and abandoning Bucky and Falcon in the present (particularly as Bucky is still recovering from being tortured and used as a weapon.).
