It's not so much that I don't agree that she has been extremely ruthless, it's more that I don't believe her to be cold in character. She's done many questionable things, but they are all because she believes that it is best for the safety of the fleet... thus she cares a great deal. She even shows great remorse for many of these actions, so I just don't see how she can be defined as cold.

While she may have had a "greater good" in mind, I think they way she treated most individuals was incredibly cold; she treated a lot people as means to an end, or as expendable tools in her spiritual quests (not really in seasons 1 or 2, though... I think I was going to say something about season 3 in my earlier comment which is how that random 3 snuck in there...). I think she temporarily lost sight of the value of individual lives because she was so focused on "the collective" and on her personal metaphysical goals. Again, this doesn't mean I dislike her; she just had plenty of times where she was decidedly not nice. Most of the other characters have had their "low points", too.

I actually agree with you, my issue is just that I don't believe she's simply cold and ruthless... which is how many people seem to want to paint her, while other characters aren't given the same black & white treatment it seems.
