LUNAR: Silver Star Story Complete

Not sure how much it deal with fandom, but I've been replaying LUNAR: Silver Star Story Complete (yes, the one for the PS). I never really joined any online communities dedicated to the game, but had endless discussion with friends. I remember grabbing up usernames on message boards and Yahoo chat before anyone else could. Oops, now that I think about it, I technically did join a couple of LUNAR comms on Yahoo, lmao. We chatted on the message boards, as well as our own non-Yahoo chatroom, comparing notes/progress, laughing at the latest crazy thing Kyle did, grieving in the latest setback for our heroes, being impressed by the cutscenes, loving the adventure itself, and enjoying the music and every western pop culture reference we found. We couldn't believe how spoiled we were by the company that translated the game.

Working Designs was an amazing company, a rare entity that put the players before profit. Sure, that meant we had to wait longer for western releases, but. honestly. it was worth it. So much care was taken with the translation, and some things were deliberately thrown in for western audiences. Yes, nowadays we have better translations in general, but the experience with WD games was just... something else. I understand Gaijinworks emerged after WD's demise, but I have yet to pick up one of their games so I can't compare.
