Jesus, she was ten. And interestingly, old enough to essentially run her whole household when her mother gave birth.

The bee/bear situation was simple childish over zealousness (she found the tree and should have just told her Dad instead of trying to make it a big surprise entirely of her own making), and as for the racoon, plenty of grown adults have cared for wounded wild animals in their homes and had nothing untoward happen. That the racoon knocked over a candle was simple bad luck.
