Including toppings and thickness.

Grilled on the oven with pepper jack cheese. I prefer thicker ones. I like onions (raw or cooked), mayo, ketchup, and mustard.

That's a great question, anon.

Number one for me is two super-thin patties with two slices of cheese, a thick slice of onion, a thick layer of mustard, a really good bun, and nothing else.

I like a thin burger with tomato, spinach, very thinly sliced red onion, bacon, and soft blue cheese smeared on the bun.

This restaurant in Sonoma, California, called The Girl And The Fig, legit has the best burger I've ever eaten and I judge all others by it. It's a thick patty, juicy and cooked how you like, on a sweet potato bun with housemade pickles and grilled onions. You can get brie, cheddar, or cambozola cheese. You can also get really good, thick bacon and/or a fried egg on it if you like. I usually get it with cheddar, but bacon and brie is good too and its bomb af with an egg. Comes with fries. It's $16.00 and each additional add on is $2.00 but holy god is it worth every penny! It's worth the 2 hour drive to Sonoma from my house just for that burger.

Yes, it really IS that good!

double medium thick patties, medium rare, jack cheese, bacon, tomato and a toasted roll. And a blend of oregano, garlic powder (NOT garlic salt!), cumin, rosemary, paprika and a little cayenne sprinkled onto each patty before cooking.

Medium thickness, grilled over charcoal with mayo, mustard, ketchup, lettuce, several slices of ripe tomato, onion, pickles and cheese.

Rare or medium rare burger. The rarer the better really. Only way beef tastes good to me. My mom only cooks beef well done, so I grew up thinking I hated beef. Turns out no, I just only like it rare. Thickness doesn't matter so much to me, as long as I can get the thing in my mouth. Grilled is amazing, but other ways of cooking are fine too. Just make sure it is rare/medium rare.

Topings:
onion is a must. Can be raw or cooked.
Sharp cheddar or mozarella cheese
barbecue sauce is nice but not required
tomato
ketchup
relish and/or pickles
mustard is nice but not required
bacon is nice but not required

bun needs to be good. Not too thick so not overwhelmed by bread. Sesame buns are nice.

No Mayo. Ever. I hate mayo.

I don't stray too far from the traditional, I don't think...

In no particular order on the (hopefully sesame) bun:
Medium-rare patty of medium thickness (this is important... it had better be properly seasoned and juicy)
Little to no mayo
Bit of ketchup
Bit of mustard
American or Swiss cheese slice (also open to other cheese slices)
2 or 3 crunchy dill pickle slices
onion slice (preferably red, but any will do... fresh or grilled)
thick tomato slice
2 pieces of any lettuce
