That kind of makes sense. When she locked them up you were actually invested in her character, the dragons, and the plot. By the end there it was hard to be in invested in any of that because of how stupid it all was.

Plus, there was time to think about her locking the dragons up over many episodes. When she killed those people it was EVERYONE IS DEAD! NOW SHE IS DEAD! OH! THE SHOW IS OVER! over the course of like two episodes.

Fair.

I was upset because she locked up the wrong dragons. Those were her good babies, the uncontrollable asshole kid was flying free somewhere else.

Yes! It irked me because those dragons were innocent the same way Lady was innocent and Nymeria was just protecting Arya and they deserved better.

Same.

If it hadn't been such a sudden switch and been given more time I might have cared, but instead I thought her going bad, because bells, was hilarious and then proceeded to enjoy her and Drogon burning down the city because it looked neat.

Mte. What was that twitching after the bells.

That is not unusual at all considering most people were emotionally checked out for season 8 anyways. There was no emotional impact in anything towards the end.

Then there is something seriously wrong with your moral compass. Along with all the "I love cats/dogs/my hamster more than people" tribe.

How dare people care more about their family members than random strangers!

Are you that anon who can't tell fantasy from reality again?

I’m not fond of that particular group of people either, but the emotional investment poured into the dragons and their meaning to Dany and the show in general as characters was significantly more developed than faceless NPCs.

A comparison would be like, playing a video game where you get to have a pet dog and beat up mooks. More often than not people are more upset about accidentally hurting their dog than the mooks they kick on a regular basis. The game (show in this case) actively pushes you to emphasize with Dany’s dragons and does next to nothing to characterize the people of King’s Landing beyond the bare minimum of “there’s women and children and old ppl living there!!!”
