John was, personally, a piece of shit.

He was also a very talented musician and songwriter (a bit overrated on the latter - he was only the third-best songwriter in the Beatles - but being overrated doesn't mean being talentless).

Mte. I don't get it that the public still gets surprised when artists they like get called out, sometimes retroactively, about being kacke human beings. It's hard to reconcile that with the fact that their art may be wonderful, but really, once you study a bit of art history, it's like... The norm??
