I feel like that's kind of oversimplifying things. I mean, mostly we see ONE crummy person (the cruel step mom), but the impression I got was that most people felt that cyborgs were a subset of androids, which literally ARE robots/property, instead of being a subset of people. It's a bit more than "some prosthetic parts" to them. It's not general dickery, it's more a cultural stance on transhumanism. But if that wasn't explicitly stated or clear to you then it wasn't clear to you. *shrug*
