I mean... it's kind of a marker of how few new fandoms come along these days, isn't it?

Yeah, I'm kind of grateful to Good Omens because it's proved fandoms can still be massive the way they were ten years ago. I know a lot of people on this comm don't like massive fandoms, but I love them. I love being in them, and I love being peripherally aware of them when I'm not in them.

Yeah.

Obviously I wish it could be something I'm personally more invested in but c'est la vie.

AYRT - Yeah, I know what you mean. I've dabbled in a few Good Omens fics, and I honestly enjoy them (a lot of good writers in GO fandom, damn). But I'm not into it the way I'm into the fandoms/ships I'm genuinely passionate about.

I'm swimming in the fandom like a pool of champagne right now, nonnie, but I understand your frustration.

It will calm down soon enough, I promise.

Seems like a lot of GO fans have now moved on to Richie/Eddie from IT, which I have no problem with since that's canon. But it is tiring that fandom life in general seems so fickle lately and people jump on to the next big thing every week. I think I'm just getting old.

I feel you. I still ship a lot of the same pairings I did 10-15 years ago (not necessarily huge fandoms either), and am still happy to see new fic for them when I look for it. I don't do a lot of writing anymore, though.

I enjoyed the book and thought the adaptation was Eh, OK. Not interested in fic. It's nice to see such an active, fun fandom, though.

I love Good Omens and I ship Crowley and Aziraphale madly, but even I am sick of seeing a thousand slightly different GIFs from exactly the same scene being posted on Tumblr seventy times a day.

I have no opinion on GO, but I do wish AO3 let you get notifications based on fandom. There are some authors I follow with the hope that they'll write in my fandom again, but I just keep getting notifications for their MCU or whatever stories, which I have no interest in.

Ooh, yeah, that would be cool.

(Anonymous) 2019-09-16 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
I mean, people aren't going to be into the same thing forever. If they move on to new things your best bet if to find a new author to follow. It does suck though.

Thanks for making this, Anon! <3

I know what you mean, OP. I've had to drop a whole bunch of subscribes.

I feel you. I rarely follow authors anymore because fandom jumping is more common than it was before, or at least it feels like that(or maybe I just happened to be in all the relevant fandoms way back when and thus when author jumped, it was simply into another one of my fandoms so it was win-win). I simply read all of their fics that are relevant to my interests, possibly follow any WIPs, and then leave it at that. If I want to read more from them, I'll just check them manually sometime. In ffnet I might favourite the author for easier checking. But yeah, never follow. I even feel kind of sorry for people who follow me, because I know I'll eventually jump and they'll probably not be in the same fandom.
