I have no problem with friends falling love, having done it myself. I'm referring only to incestuous relationships with the illicit comment, though I suppose "deviant" would probably be a more applicable term in hindsight.

And I'm not saying that you have to like anything I like, nor is the original poster it would seem. I just agree that this compelling need that many fangirls have to just ship anything for the sake of needing to ship does cheaper some relationships it seems. It gives the impression that fans are incapable of appreciating anything other than romantic attraction, which then glosses over many other compelling aspects of relationships, like friendships and sibling bonds.

Well, illicit's actually accurate with the incest thing, so that's not really a problem! I mostly just got confused because you boggled over people liking illicit sex after mentioning shipping both siblings and best friends. XD

I'm sorry I made it sound like you were saying that; I actually didn't mean it that way, but phrased it awkwardly. Just that you and the OP share your preference, but not that you're agreeing with the OP on this matter... that said, maybe the OP isn't saying "STOP LIKING THESE THINGS," but they are clearly saying that they think it is bad that people like these things, and that we shouldn't.

I actually do ship... pretty much everything. I love gen of everything too, though. And can enjoy the same two or more characters as friends, honorary family, rivals, actual family, enemies, lovers (whether romantically or just physically, with issues), or any mix of the above. And to be honest, the romantic attraction, at least for me, is only compelling and enhanced by any other relation the two (or more) have to each other, good or bad.

I just think it's weird to decry whole groups of people who enjoy a certain thing, assuming that there must not be any compelling reason for them to do so. It doesn't have to be compelling for you, but if they find it so... yeah, IDK, personal freedom. The OP just makes me wonder why they can't see that romantic and sexual relations between characters doesn't cheapen everything else the characters have with each other, and it's possible to like more than one type of interaction and relation between two characters.
