Why not filter your posts? FB doesn't make it very user friendly, but it's possible to do that like Livejournal had in the old days. You can do it by creating a Friends List and making sure to only post fandom posts to that list, or you can customize the privacy of each post and tell who to exclude, i.e. your parents.

Oh, I don't mean like that. I don't post fandom stuff as posts. But I make comments in a specific fandom group that I've recently joined. And my parents, before, have talked to me about having seen a comment I made on something that they personally weren't following. I honestly don't know much about Facebook. But something about the way we are friends means they can see my comments on other things that aren't just them.
