Not to mention that there might be multiple writers (as with a TV show or movies or different adaptions) that have their own perceptions of a character.

Yep. In one of my fandoms, the main writer and the actor playing him disagreed on what the character's sexuality was (it was never explicitly stated) so there's definitely room for interpretation in some things.
