Sister got married. Was mostly fun. Just someone trying to set me up with their friend was... not (she already apologized and was quite drunk, so I'm not mad at her or anything). I just HATE having to turn people down. And also that people think just cause I'm 30 and single, I just need a boyfriend.

I love shipping and porny fic etc but myself? While I sometimes think hey, wouldn't it be nice to have someone (wether a guy or a woman), I've been single for 30 years and not unhappy about it. Plus, I'm asexual and I feel like the other person should know that, BUT I also don't really want to tell something that personal to someone I don't know very well, sooooo that's quite a dilemma. Luckily I don't get asked out on dates very often, but my stomach turns into knots every time it happens and that's when every time I realize once again that NOPE I actually really don't want to.

But yeah, the wedding was lovely.

I am feeling about 60% better today. So, I decided to snake out bathroom sink because it isn't draining well and I don't want to pay a plumber $100 to come do 5 minutes of work. It. Was. Rough. My hands were covered in black...pipe nastiness. But, I got it done.

Now I am trying to put crochet hair onto the zebra head I am doing. It is slow going. Also trying to get all the phlegm out of my chest. :(

Good: Helped dad with the potato harvest yesterday. Weather was good and the yield alright.
Sad: Went to church with dad and family due to my grandmother having past away last weekend. We're not religious ourselves, but my grandparents is/was.

Started out okay, but then this morning I discovered I have a mold problem in the basement. Fortunately, it's an unfinished basement and the mold appears to be confined to boxes, freestanding shelves and stone odd furniture stored frown there. Still, gross and this is a terrible time for me to have to deal with it, since I have to go away for the rest of the week starting tomorrow. The worst part is that spores got upstairs and started growing on furniture legs (how I realized there was a problem). It's not black mold but the internet informs me that there are multiple kinds of dangerous mold in different colors, so yay fun!

One of my friends sat me down and made me read HoX/PoX, and now I am cursed to wait for more issues to see where this clusterfuck is going. And if it isn't Jonestown I will be very disappointed, because the whole Krakoa society is very death cult. And I have Thoughts, because while humans have treated mutants like shit and genocided, like, 95% of them, when they up and declare themselves the new Gods of the world in Jerusalem while the sun sets dramatically on the human race it's kinda hard to not see where they were coming from.

...uuugh, X-Men...

What's your favorite thing about the fall season? Personally, I'm sooooo looking forward to cooler weather and not needing to run the A/C. Apple season is great too - already scored some delicious Honeycrisp apples and will be keeping an eye out at the farmers market for Mutsu apples, too.

How about you guys?

Seconding the cooler weather :). I also love getting into the Halloween mood, and watching the leaves change and fall as well.

Plus, my birthday's in the fall (two weeks from today, actually), so that's fun, too :D.

It will be cold soon. FINALLY below 90 degrees every day. Also, I love October because it means I can watch/listen/play spooky things 24/7.

I tried to think of a good answer but the truth is fall is hell. the days are getting shorter and darker, raking leaves is hard on my broken body, all my flowers and plants are dying, all the insects and birds are going away, and I hate pumpkin spice. I don't even like dragging out all my sweatshirts and jackets, extra layers of clothing are frustrating. I guess the only good thing is that it's not winter because snow and ice are worse.

I just want the 90 degree days to end. I've had it.

I can't wait for my hair and skin to be normal again, i.e. not a constant fuzz-bomb and grease-bomb, respectively.

I can't wait to wrap up in a big wooly scarf.

I can't wait to get that first really cool, rainy day and make crock-pot chili and roasted root vegetables.

I can't wait to wear jackets and blazers again.

I can't wait for ALL THE LEAVES.

Horror Challenge?

So, like a year ago I posted about wishing there was more horror fanworks in fandom and about creating a challenge with daily themes for creators to work with. I've gotten a tumblr, dreamwidth account, AO3 collection. It is mostly bare bones. Anyone have any tips for running/creating/promoting. There would be no sign-ups or anything. Just, people can write/draw for any day prompts they want.

Anybody else going to check out new network shows this week?

A bunch of things are premiering. I'm going to try Prodigal Son (Michael Sheen as serial killer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6lSC3mLyI0), Evil (believer vs. skeptic in a legal system setting - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFvo3fS4Zwc), Carol's Second Act (Patricia Heaton medical comedy - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFI_8bkBN2g), and maybe Perfect Harmony (Bradley Whitford as a musical director in a comedy - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YV7ezBolDug). I would try Stumptown, but the show's aggressive promotion has turned me completely off. And Emergence seemed fine in theory, though likely one of those high concept shows that tends to fizzle, but watching the first nine minutes a couple of times (thanks to that show's promotion campaign), it just didn't catch with me.
