Etsy artists. I get that it takes time to make things, and I get that things get made in the order that orders for the things were placed: I understand that there are several orders ahead of mine and the artist will get to my thing when they get to it. I even get ~artistic temperament~: not feeling up to doing it today? Okay, how about tomorrow then, will that work, especially since I have already paid you for the thing?

Honestly I think I'm done with purchasing from Etsy artists, because in the ten+ years I've been shopping there, I've had problems with all but two or three, and its always been a timeliness issue. Currently I am waiting on a ring I bought and paid for in June. A recent inquiry into how much longer it was going to take (since it's now almost October) got me a snotty toned "please reread my terms" reply; yeah, bih, I read your terms AND SAW THAT YOU HAD CHANGED THEM FROM WHEN I ORDERED MY RING. Also, I specifically ordered that ring to take advantage of a discount that artist was offering that she didn't give me. Meanwhile, this ~artist~ is posting her new tattoo pics on her Instagram and talking about how sad she is that all the joy has been sucked out of what she does, because her customers want what they fucking PAID HER FOR, I guess. And the really sad thing is that she seems to be the majority, either that or I've just had really bad luck with awful, flaky people who are just in it to take people's money.

Sigh. I want to do the nice thing and Support Independent Artists, but why do so many of them make me never want to do it again, holy fuck.

This is the reason I only sell pre-made items on Etsy. I make things when I have time and energy, I don't have to worry about overcommitting or burning myself out if something comes up, and my customers know that (barring any mail issues, which is why you pay for the tracking option, Janet) they'll get their order in a timely manner.

That's pretty much the reason I never buy from etsy. It's extremely overpriced, and then there's a semi-good chance you won't get the item anyways. Sorry the person you're buying from sucks so much! Hopefully you'll get it soon!
