Steve is probably in my top 3 characters too and I found the fact he didn't die really jarring. It just felt like everything was leading to him needing to make a sacrifice and then... nothing.

That's what I thought would happen too, and it made me sad to lose Steve as a character, I felt like it made sense. Somehow the fact that he survived is...worse, narratively speaking? I still struggle to wrap my head around that.
