Some bad is fine. I love Star Trek. Even DS9 (actually especially DS9). Trek could go to some dark spaces. But there was always this general hopefully outlook for the future. There were bad things out there. No one was perfect. But ultimately the future for humanity was hopeful and things were going to get better. And there were heroic characters making good choices for the right reasons. That's what I miss.

I loved DS9, too! It was so different and so interesting. I loved that it wasn't 'perfect'. Regular ST was so weirdly perfect (and yet still had no LGBTQ characters, etc....) DS9 was exactly the right balance.
